नए कोरोना वायरस की वजह से होने वाली बीमारी कोविड-19 (Covid-19) को अस्तित्व में आए 1 साल से ज्यादा का समय हो चुका है. इस दौरान विभिन्न रिसर्च में कई बार यह बात सामने आ चुकी है कि जिन लोगों को पहले से ही कोई बीमारी है या जिनका स्वास्थ्य खराब है उन्हें कोविड-19 इंफेक्शन को लेकर ज्यादा सतर्क रहना चाहिए क्योंकि वे उस हाई रिस्क ग्रुप में आते हैं जिनकी इम्यूनिटी (Immunity) कमजोर है और जिन्हें कोरोना वायरस इंफेक्शन (Coronavirus Infection) से संक्रमित होने का खतरा अधिक रहता है. इस ग्रुप में डायबिटीज, ब्लड प्रेशर और हृदय रोग के अलावा अब PCOS (पॉलिसिस्टिक ओवरी सिंड्रोम) को भी शामिल कर लिया गया है.
PCOS की वजह से महिलाओं में कोविड का खतरा 51% अधिक
यूरोपियन जर्नल ऑफ इंडोक्रिनोलॉजी में हाल ही में प्रकाशित हुई एक स्टडी की मानें तो जिन महिलाओं को PCOS है उन्हें कोविड-19 से संक्रमित होने का खतरा अधिक है. इस स्टडी में पीसीओएस और कोविड-19 के बीच लिंक क्या है इसकी जांच की गई. इस दौरान स्टडी में पीसीओएस से डायग्नोज हुई 21 हजार 292 महिलाओं की 78 हजार 310 महिलाओं के साथ तुलना की गई जो एक समान उम्र की थीं और जिन्हें पीसीओएस नहीं था. स्टडी के नतीजों से पता चला कि जिन महिलाओं को PCOS था उन्हें कोविड-19 होने का खतरा 51 प्रतिशत अधिक था, उन महिलाओं की तुलना में जो सेम एज की थीं लेकिन उन्हें PCOS नहीं था.
आखिर क्या है PCOS?
PCOS यानी पॉलिसिस्टिक ओवरी सिंड्रोम सिर्फ महिलाओं में होने वाली एक ऐसी बीमारी है जिसका संबंध शरीर के हार्मोन्स और मेटाबॉलिज्म से है. अगर आंकड़ों की बात करें तो दुनियाभर की हर 5 में से 1 महिला को PCOS है और इसका सबसे कॉमन कारण है निष्क्रिय जीवनशैली यानी एक ऐसी लाइफस्टाइल जिसमें एक्सरसाइज करना, खुद को ऐक्टिव रखना ये सारी चीजें शामिल नहीं हैं. लक्षणों की बात करें तो इसमें शामिल है-
– अनियमित मासिक धर्म या पीरियड्स बिलकुल न आना
– पीरियड्स के दौरान बहुत अधिक ब्लीडिंग होना
– शरीर और चेहरे पर अनचाहे बाल आना
– मुहांसे
– वजन बढ़ना या वजन घटना
– बालों का बहुत अधिक पतला होना और बाल गिरना
– प्रेग्नेंट होने में दिक्कत आना
PCOS की वजह से हो सकती हैं कई और बीमारियां
जिन महिलाओं को PCOS की समस्या होती है उन्हें हृदय रोग, टाइप 2 डायबिटीज, नॉन अल्कोहोलिक फैटी लिवर डिजीज, हाई ब्लड प्रेशर आदि होने का खतरा बढ़ जाता है. इसलिए, PCOS से पीड़ित महिलाओं में COVID-19 इंफेक्शन होने का खतरा कितना अधिक है इसका पता लगाने के लिए शोधकर्ताओं ने इन बीमारियों और जोखिम कारकों को भी ध्यान में रखा था.
